Also known as an electronic passport or digital passport, a biometric passport has an integrated microchip that contains all your personal information. It looks like a traditional passport, but has the international biometric symbol on the bottom of the cover. In principle, a person holding a valid EU digital COVID certificate should not be subject to additional restrictions, such as testing or quarantine, regardless of their place of departure in the EU. The easiest way to know if your passport is biometric is by looking at the cover.
If there's a small gold camera logo on the bottom, then it's biometric. Otherwise, the technology containing a biometric passport has become so advanced and the components are so small that you can't feel any bumps or ridges. In Israel, anyone vaccinated or who has recovered from COVID-19 with presumed immunity is issued Green Pass certificates from the Ministry of Health that allow access to several entertainment venues, and Denmark has launched a similar coronary passport. In addition, people who recovered from COVID-19 within 180 days before traveling to the EU should be able to travel to the EU if they can demonstrate their recovery with an EU digital COVID certificate or a non-EU certificate considered equivalent to the EU digital COVID certificate.
The project, called Vaccation Credential Initiative, aims to help people obtain encrypted digital copies of their vaccination records stored in a digital wallet of their choice.
